Find Heat Pump is an independent UK directory of MCS-certified heat pump installers, plus plain-English guides to help homeowners choose between technologies, claim the right grants, and run through the buying process.

It is built and maintained by a small editorial team that doesn't accept payment for listings, doesn't run lead-generation forms, and doesn't sell visitor data. The site is funded by minimal operating costs absorbed by the publisher.

How the directory is built

The directory data comes from the public MCS certified installer register at mcscertified.com. We fetch it, deduplicate by MCS certification number, and re-publish the records that include at least one heat pump technology.

At our last refresh (2026-05-14), the directory included 2,215 unique installers, of which 1,645 are registered for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

How often we update

The MCS register changes daily as installers renew or lapse certifications. We refresh the dataset periodically. Before signing a contract with any installer, verify their MCS certification status directly on mcscertified.com using the MCS number shown on each profile page.

Editorial standards

  • No paid listings. We don't take money to add, remove, prioritise or feature installers.
  • No reviews. We don't publish installer reviews because there's no honest way to verify a customer's identity for thousands of small businesses. The MCS workmanship warranty and Trustpilot are better routes for that.
  • Cited sources. Every factual claim in our guides links to a primary source — gov.uk, Ofgem, MCS, Energy Saving Trust, the Climate Change Committee, or trade press.
  • AI disclosure. Some of the editorial research is AI-assisted; figures and sources are checked by humans before publication. We don't auto-publish.

What we don't do

  • We don't take quotes for you. Contact installers directly using the details on their profile.
  • We don't arrange surveys. The installer does that.
  • We don't handle BUS grant applications. Your installer applies on your behalf.
